YIN YOGA Teacher Training featured at Fire Shaper

Celebrate the “Heart of Yoga” and open to Presence!

Yin Yoga is the practice of slow, still and exploratory poses that are carefully chosen and executed to gently open our joints, cartilage, and ligaments. Yin creates space, peace, meditation, calm, and presence. YIN YOGA takes you to an edge, in a slow, juicy kind of way while remaining engaging and challenging. Learn to teach this more feminine side of yoga asana to a refined playlist of world beats, while delving deep into the techniques of aromatherapy using the finest quality, small-batch Essential Oils.

This YIN training has been broken down into two separate modules.  Although they are designed to be incorporated together for a complete understanding some teachers may find particular aspects of the training more to their needs than others.  We suggest attending both Weekends for a total immersion.  The training totals are 15 hours for each module (10 contact, 5 non).  During your contact hours you will study and learn in the presence of Darlene deepening your knowledge and understanding.  During your non-contact time you will study materials assigned to you and possibly assist in one or more of Darlene’s “Bliss Out” Yin sessions being offered at Fire Shaper.  The mix of knowledge and experience is amazing and essential in furthering your skills and gifts in the teaching of Yin style.  Our top talented graduates may then be selected to teach Fire Shapers Hot Yin class coming soon to a studio near you.

Meet Darlene Vanderhoop:

Dar has a degree in Movement therapy/psychology from UW Madison, WI. Dar trains teachers and conducts workshops and classes in Vinyasa, Hot (certified Bikram), Yin and various specialties.  Her love of aroma therapy and her original GoodScents; a line of aromatherapy mists and elixirs, are used in select classes and trainings.

ABOUT THE MODULES:

 MODULE 1:  Training Module

This Yin Training is a unique way to deepen your practice, your teaching and journey into the more subtle, less obvious energies in the body. We will explore classic YIN POSTURES, discuss reading materials, practice leading Yin sessions; learning how to use props and how to incorporate Yin into a Vinyasa Class. The most common poses will be explored in detail, with variations, options and humor!
There are about a dozen poses and their variations. You will learn how to get into them and out of them, how you use blocks, straps and blankets… Joints, meridians and organ knowledge as well as how to move the class smoothly and seamlessly to deliver a complete experience to your students.
You will learn the names of the postures, how to organize and conduct a class. These are the absolute essentials to guiding a Yin Style Yoga class.
Yin Yoga is fun to teach since it is the less linear, more feminine side of yoga, and you can do some of the postures with the students. We will explore psychological, energetic, and the mental/emotional connections.
This is a 15 hour continuing education training that can be used for Yoga Alliance continuing education. We have an additional 15 hour continuing education training being hosted on a separate weekend where we will explore the following in much more detail:
Module Focus Points:

  •  Sequencing
  • Postures
  • Modifications
  • Variations
  • Anatomy & Physiology
  • Benefits
  • Props and their use
  • Yin Integration into your current classes

MODULE 2:  AROMA Module

This second session of the training is focused on gaining access to the ethereal of the Yin practice. We will explore our energies by moving them in, out and through our body. We will observe breathing patterns, our thoughts, and do many meditations including modified Yoga Nidra type guided meditations.

One of the focuses of this part of the Yin training will be on how to employ mists and elixirs to enhance this entire experience which, is unique to Darlene’s teaching. “GoodScents” is a line of scents ranging from earthy grounding mists to floral, citrus and etheric. Aromatherapy will move your soul.
We know you will fall head over heels for these aromatherapy mixtures so, we’ve arranged to make a small supply of these available for purchase at the training. Having your own scents will help you to get you started if you wish to use them as an enhancement to your YIN classes or your personal practice.
Matching scent to energy centres (chakras) and leading people effortlessly into a more primitive brain; out of mental constructs and into more visceral “moment to moment living” brings them somewhere blissful. Working with essential oils can be quite challenging and when you mix the mixtures right the experience becomes something AWESOME!
When you leave our training you’ll have all the right tools and knowledge to master your own mixtures and experiences.
We will also focus on not only the mix of aromas but, also the mix of music. Creating inspiring and empowering playlists can be quite a daunting task for many instructors. We make it easy and stress free. Darlene shows you the in’s and out’s of what make a great playlist and how to quickly match your music to your intention and class.
Finally, in this second half of the training you will learn how to craft your very own workshops. With decades of experience, Darlene will teach you what she has learned about creating workshops that inspire and empower people. It’s not so easy and if you’ve tried it on your own you would have quickly realized the difficulties of this talent. For many Instructors workshops provide a large portion of their revenue. If you are not currently crafting your own workshops then you’re missing out on one of the most valuable tools for empowering your students and bring abundance into your financial routines. Let Darlene share what she has learned in this vital area of education.

  •
Aromatherapy (Essential Oils)
  • Aroma mix-ology
  • Ethereal processing
  • Meditation, Breathing, Thought patterning
