Jennifer’s Journey…from student to Fire Shaper instructor!

I look back on this year and smile. I smile because life has a funny way of working out  for each and every one of us in the end.

On October 8, 2013 four days after returning back to the United States after a year abroad in London, I walked into Fire Shaper in Rutherford, NJ with a Groupon in my hand looking for a new studio to call my home. I was in awe of the passion and dedication of each teacher I practiced with. I wanted to do something to give back to the community what yoga gave to me.

I eventually became a work study student and decided I wanted to do the Teacher Training Program. I kept telling myself “I will when I have the money.” I am happy to say that on October 8,2014 here I am, still at Fire Shaper, teaching my first Blaze class ! This past summer. I went through the Teacher Training Program, which was a life changing experience. Teacher training improved my practice and changed my outlook on life. ANYTHING is possible if you put your mind to it!

About Jennifer: Jen has been practicing yoga on and off for 5 years ranging from Bikram to Vinyasa. She has always been fascinated by fitness and the physical body since she was young as she has been dancing since the young age of three. With an MA in Text and Performance from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, Jen used yoga as a device to deal with the every day stress (and thesis writing!) of graduate school. Jen graduated from the FireShaper Teacher Training program August ’14.
