Perfect (Perfection)

Do you ever feel that you are not sufficient? That you have to be perfect and constantly worry yourself that despite the difficulty you will never be good enough? Or are you the type of person who is incapable of handling criticism of any kind? And when you feel you are about to mess things up you become immobilized because of fear? The worst part it is when things go terribly wrong you blame and accuse yourself of being unworthy?

If your answer to these questions is a resounding yes – then you may be struggling with perfectionism. Being the perfect person you imagine yourself to be can and will affect your relation with others. In fact, this type of person often find themselves friendless thinking no one around is perfect enough.

Whatever its cause, a need to always be perfect can ruin your life.

It makes you a negative person because you always try to be something human beings will never be. Accept that there will come a point that you will screw up, you’re going to say things you shouldn’t say, do things you shouldn’t do and mess up like you shouldn’t mess up.

Decide what you do want and say, “I’m not perfect but I am good. And what makes me good and what makes me great and what can make me excellent, as soon as I notice I am not on track I correct it and I get better.”

Remember your goal each day is to get better not to be perfect. And that’s all anyone can ask of you. If every day you really try and contribute more, be more and do more than you were slightly the day before it will be easier to bounce right back up even with all the blunder.

See the only way you fail is if you quit! But if you learn something and you expand from it and you make some new decisions that enhance your life and the people you care about then there is no failure.

Trying to be perfect all the time is setting yourself for disappointment and failure.  Set yourself up for success by CANI (constant and never-ending improvement)… Just commit to becoming better, even just by a little bit, every day.
